Kundalini Meditation to Release Anger

As we reach the final few weeks of 2020, it's important to ask ourselves "what would I like to carry over into the new year, and what would I like to leave behind?". Sure, there's a lot we can't control. But what we do have control over is our inner world.

If you're feeling like there's any residual anger lingering in your system, now's the time to detoxify. We can work with herbs, supplements and healing foods to detoxify our physical state, but what about our spiritual state? What tools do we have to release the toxins of fear, frustration and anger? When I find that I just can't shake a lower level energy, I reach for a tool called the Kundalini Fists of Anger Meditation.

Anger is an emotion that we are all familiar with. Whether it be the holidays, your work, family life, frustration building up around finances or something else, anger has a way of seeping in and controlling our actions. This doesn’t have to be the case. In fact, if we channel it properly anger can be constructive and a powerful catalyst for inspired action. This kundalini meditation for releasing anger is one you can reach for anytime you feel an energy of frustration, overwhelm or anger building up inside of you.

Fists of Anger: Meditation for Releasing Anger as taught by Yogi Bhajan©

Mudra: Touch each thumb to the base of the Mercury (pinky) fingers. Close the rest of the fingers over the thumbs to form fists. Raising the arms, begin a backstroke type movement over the head, alternating each side (right/left) as you swing up, over and back around again.

Breath: Through O-shaped mouth, begin strong, rhythmic inhale/exhale in sync with arm movements.

Position: Sit in Rock or Easy Pose, with light jalandhar bandh (neck lock). Eyes are closed.

The mudra, movement and breathing are continuous and strong.

Intentionally think about anything and everything that makes you angry. Continue this laser focus on bringing up the anger throughout the meditation, increasing the movement and breath.

To End: Interlock the fingers, stretch the arms up over head, palms facing up, deep inhale through the O mouth- picture yourself surrounded in white, healing light- exhale out the O mouth.

Repeat 3 times.

Time: 3 minutes.
